Studium Generale Special: Washington correspondent John Nichols about “The role of the United States for a stable democracy”

Donnerstag, 13. Oktober 2022 // 10.15-12.15 Uhr // Raum K115 DHBW Campus Marie-Curie-Str. 4, Lörrach // Will the United States Champion Robust Democracy on the World Stage?

Darum geht es:

The United States has never been so divided politically in modern times. And many of those divisions have to do with the role of the U.S. as a champion of democracy at a time when authoritarians are on the rise. Donald Trump is no longer president, but he remains a major figure in U.S. politics, and many Republicans share his sympathy for European nationalists. At the same time, Democrats are moving toward more nuanced views of international conflicts. The 2022 and 2024 elections will define which way the U.S. is headed when in comes to global democracy issues.

Zur Person:

John Nichols is Washington correspondent for The Nation and author of several books, such as The Fight for the Soul of the Democratic Party & Horsemen of the Trumpocalypse. He is based in Freiburg’s sister city Madison, Wisconsin.
